Barrie is a city in Ontario, Canada of about 150,000 people (2021 census: 147,829). It is located about 100 km north of Toronto, functioning as its satellite city and gateway to the more northerly parts of Ontario.

Barrie is served by two GO Train (commuter rail) stations on the Barrie line that ultimately connect to downtown Toronto's Union Station: Allandale-Waterfront and Barrie South. Service to Toronto can be limited and sporadic. By car, Highway 400 takes drivers to and back from Toronto.

Lake Simcoe, via Kempenfelt Bay, serves as the primary source of freshwater.

Cities and towns close to Barrie include Orillia and Midland to the north, Innisfil and Bradford-West Gwillimbury to the south and Wasaga Beach and Collingwood to the west.
